What we do
We actively support the work of the Bullenhuser Damm Memorial, which is now part of the Hamburg Foundation of Memorials and Learning Sites. Together with the memorial team, we help shape programs such as the Long Night of Museums, develop exhibitions, and create new educational offerings like the digital remembrance game “Erinnern. The Children from Bullenhuser Damm.”
As part of civil society, we are also involved with the ongoing development of the district surrounding the memorial and the rose garden. We engage in discussions about the future use of the former school building and how it can remain connected to the operation of the memorial, working closely with local residents and city representatives.
Every year, we organize the memorial service, which is regularly attended by relatives from all over the world. We collaborate with Hamburg schoolchildren and artists to design the program.
We maintain close contact with relatives, now including their next generations.
We are a member of Hamburg’s advisory network against right-wing extremism.
We take our traveling exhibition into schools and host workshops with and for students. In these sessions, we not only share the history of Bullenhuser Damm, but also explore how discrimination and group-based hatred still exist today.
We create new resources, eg. this website, flyers, multilingual catalogs, etc., to inform people about the history and show how it remains relevant.
We are active on social media, where we connect our work with that of other initiatives and committed individuals around the world.
